Community Emergency Response (CERT)
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is a way for people from all walks of life to learn valuable basic skills used during disaster response. Some of the skills include things such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. By using the training learned through CERT, new members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
How do I receive training?
Training is scheduled once a minimum number of interested individuals have signed up. Interested businesses, organizations, or groups may arrange for training at their specific location, if a minimum number of participants can be gathered. The training is best delivered to groups of 15 to 40, as CERT is centered on a team building concept; the greater numbers enhance this opportunity. Class times and duration may be structured to promote participation. The CERT member is issued a number of safety items at training.
HAM Radio Team
The Eagle Mountain City Amateur Radio Team welcomes amateur radio operators as well as communication, electronics, hardware, and software enthusiasts. The HAM Team conducts training sessions for people who want to obtain their amateur (HAM) radio license. Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 8 p.m. at the fire station in The Ranches.
